Dobcross Silver Band have been praised on BBC's North West Tonight following their innovative rehearsal methods in light of the government's lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The band are normally a highlight of Saddleworth's annual brass band contest (often dubbed 'the greatest free show on Earth') which takes place on the afternoon and evening of Whit Friday. Unfortunately due to the lockdown this summer the event will not go ahead for the first time since the second world war.
